The Dreamliner magic continues as Qantas rolls out ticket sales for flights beginning in September from Brisbane to LA.
Tickets officially on sale
Qantas begins direct Dreamliner flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles – and then from LAX to New York – from September 1 with tickets officially on sale today.
With a two-hour stop over at Los Angeles, the Dreamliner will then continue on as QF11/12, the connecting service for Qantas between Los Angeles and New York (JFK), carrying passengers connecting from Sydney and Melbourne services as well as from Brisbane.
Between September and December 2018, the daily Brisbane to Los Angeles Dreamliner service will be complemented by up to three weekly Boeing 747 flights to meet seasonal demand.
“It is great to see our national carrier catching up with other international carriers like Cathay Pacific’s A350’s and Etihad’s 787 Dreamliners in and out of Brisbane,” says CT Connections partnership manager Tim Hannah.
“The new Dreamliner will be very welcomed over the old and tired 747s. This will now also give Qantas an edge: bigger windows, quieter cabins and more technology than you can poke a stick at will leave Brisbane travellers very happy with the decision to fly on this new aircraft. For the corporate client, all these things are extremely important and should be considered for any long haul travel.”
Once Qantas’s eighth Dreamliner has been delivered by the end of this year, the airline will spell the end for three weekly 747 services between Brisbane and Los Angeles with a second year-round Dreamliner service operating four times a week.
The Qantas Dreamliner carries 236 passengers across three cabins compared with 364 passengers on the 747-400 currently operating the route. The Dreamliner features the latest version of the airline’s Business Suite, nicknamed “mini First Class” by some frequent flyers, as well as a next generation Premium Economy seat and a significantly improved Economy seat with extra storage compartments and device charging outlets.
The Brisbane-LA service is the fourth international route for the airline’s new Boeing 787-9 fleet, following Melbourne to Los Angeles, Melbourne to San Francisco, and Perth to London, and is the first route earmarked for the four Boeing 787s which will be based in Brisbane following their delivery between July and November this year.
