Sophisticated, tech savvy and affordable luxury. That’s the takeaway from Maria Claydon’s experience at Tribe Perth. The hotel also scores her nod of approval for being a short Uber ride from all of the Western Australia capital’s drawcards.
The lowdown on Tribe Perth
West Perth is an area that offers travellers the option of being close to the hustle and bustle of all the city action and its attractions, while also being a great place nearby to escape it all.
It’s also right on the doorstep of the iconic and stunning King’s Park.
Tribe Perth is a very short Uber ride to any of the city’s offerings, be it entertainment, work in the CBD or special events.
The room
The rooms at Tribe are super comfortable and stylish without compromising on functionality.
Every inch of the space within these cleverly designed rooms is utilised with the needs of the corporate traveller in mind. From the specially designed space under the bed for your suitcase to the inbuilt chargers by the beds, no detail has been left out.
The rooms feel contemporary and lavish as with the rest of the hotel; style and uniqueness is paramount. Each room has its own colour theme, smart TV, signature bed, free Wi-Fi and top of the range furnishings and amenities.
Hotel facilities
The concept of Tribe is boutique affordable luxury. From the moment you walk in you get a feeling of high-end fashion and design that is contemporary and luxurious at the same time.
When arriving at check in, you are greeted by hotel staff each with their own unique uniforms designed specifically for them by a fashion designer. That vibe continues as you walk through the hotel.
With designer furnishings fit for a celebrity and an innovative, open and shared workspace, the hotel provides the business traveller with something unique when compared with the typical hotel experience.
The Tribe has truly mastered the concept of giving guests a home away from home. Comfortable and elegant couches are set in a living room style space adorned with contemporary books on art and design and outstanding furnishings.
This living room style is set alongside shared open spaces encouraging guests to utilise more than just their room and giving them the option of spending their time mingling or relaxing alone.
Food
Of course the offerings for breakfast are of the highest standard.
Catering to a range of palletes and dietary requirements, the Tribe offers a mouth-watering grab and go breakfast. This is way beyond the usual buffet or continental breakfast offerings of your standard hotel breakfast.
I had the chia, coconut yoghurt with paleo muesli and a Kombucha on the side. The Tribe really have outdone themselves with the quality of the breakfast. Although Tribe don’t offer the standard room service or sit down restaurant, they have provided guests with 24-hour options.
You can choose to eat in the communal dining space or on your own. Grab a beer from the bar or a daily pressed juice with the space open any time of the day.
Dining out
Set in the prestigious West Perth area and by the iconic King’s Park, there is something for everyone. The award-winning Fraser’s King Park (pictured below) is very close, offering only the best local seasonal produce. Choose to dine in their restaurant or for something special book a private dining room.
For the more health conscious, Health Freak Café at King’s Park offers a range of sugar free, gluten free and multitudes of delicious and healthy options. But if that isn’t enough you are a quick Uber ride to anywhere in the city of Perth.
And let’s not forget there are masses of offerings for Uber Eats, so if the hotel food is not taking your fancy but you don’t feel like leaving you can order anything ranging from McDonalds to Mexican or ice cream and have it delivered to your hotel room door.
Point of difference
The uniqueness of Tribe is shown in every single aspect of what this hotel offers.
Tribe has exceeded its offerings of boutique, luxurious affordability and has given guests the wow factor at every possible opportunity.
What really stood out for me was the openness of the communal areas, offering the business traveller the opportunity to break up the monotony of business trips where otherwise they may be spending their time going from office to hotel room every day. All of this is done while still maintaining the ‘home away from home’ feel and without compromising on style. That was something I was really impressed with.
Getting around
Tribe is conveniently located within walking distance of the iconic King’s Park and several top restaurants.
Perth’s free public transport zone is on the doorstep and getting around Perth from Tribe couldn’t be easier. Due to the size of Perth city you’re never very far from anything which includes a multitude of bars, restaurants, and entertainment and special events.
All you need to do is jump in an Uber and you can get wherever you need swiftly. The airport is about a 25-minute drive away.
